Need for speed xbox one review
You'd be forgiven for thinking this one was going to be a wreck. Pushed out with next to no fanfare and the latest of a series that's been on a rapidly accelerating downward spiral this past generation, the signs for Need for Speed Heat haven't been too promising. So it's a pleasant surprise to discover that this is easily Ghost Games' best outing since its debut with Rivals, that no-frills launch speaking to a wider, stripped-back philosophy that's quicker to get to the core appeal of Need for Speed than recent efforts. And Need for Speed Heat understands that this series is, above anything else, a romance.SEE VIDEO BY TOPIC: Need for Speed: Velocidad y prestigio callejero a análisis

The Force is strong with this one… by Ian Collen Nov 14, Review Specs Discussion. Gaming Review. Overview If you can remember the good old days of Need for Speed , when the likes of Hot Pursuit , Underground and Most Wanted would be the must-have Christmas equivalent of a modern day Call of Duty , prepare to feel old. The original Need for Speed is now 25 years old, with Heat marking the 24th title in a franchise that has struggled to find its feet in recent years.
First Impressions The game is set in the new fictional setting of Palm City. Build yourself up one cool and fully upgradeable car at a time.
The City Never Sleeps In contrast, at night the city is transformed into a neon-lit world of very illegal racing. The darkness adds to the tension of hurtling down a narrow street at mph and the cops decide this is the best time to head outside, remaining a constant threat. A definite risk-reward factor to keep you on the edge of your driving seat.
Multiplayer Heat is largely designed as a single-player experience and you can play solo in an offline world if you wish. Playing online is much like Destiny or The Division , where you can just go about your own business in a shared world environment.
There are no designated lobbies or MP modes, but when you find a race, you can invite friends or anyone currently in your world to join in — or you can choose to race it solo. The only real downside to racing with others is that you might find yourself trailing behind someone in a much better car than yours! The purpose of heading online is to earn bonus Rep for your crew which brings further unlocks and rewards.
In-Depth Analysis The racing itself is good fun with some generous corner-cutting allowed in the absence of sneaky shortcuts.
The cars handle pretty well for the most part, with notable differences as you switch between them and the thrill of taking your newer, faster, cooler car out for the first time is still a great selling point. Need for Speed Heat Review Xbox One The lack of hype and promotion that would usually surround an NFS launch perhaps suggests that there are still some uncertainties around where its future lies, but Need for Speed Heat feels like a step in the right direction.

The Need For Speed series has always been something of a chameleon. At various points, it's been a police chase simulator , a realistic track racer , and even a Cannonball Run-style action movie on wheels. This latest Need For Speed follows in the footsteps of the first Fast and Furious film by exploring the white-knuckled world of illegal street racing. While it's not a completely novel approach for the series Underground covered tuner car culture over a decade ago , it does open a few new avenues for Need For Speed's arcadey but nuanced style of racing--most notably in its progression and customization systems.

Heat combines elements of fan-favourites like Underground and the original Most Wanted with some welcome tweaks inspired by its contemporaries. Like in Forza Horizon, even stone walls crumble and trees splinter if you careen off course. Fewer encounters with momentum-killers helped to keep my pace high and my pulse higher. The city itself is the big highlight here — the surrounding countryside is a little unmemorable — but there are a few other cool spots, including a mini Cape Canaveral-style space centre, a fun abandoned racing oval, and a big container yard begging for a shred session.
Need for Speed Heat Review (Xbox One)
With Need for Speed , EA and Ghost Games are hoping to reboot and revitalize the series by bringing back the arcade racing fun of the past games, injecting in the street culture of Need for Speed Underground , and finishing it all off with a layer of polish only the current generation of consoles can offer. The Need for Speed franchise has been around for more than twenty years now. If there has ever been a franchise in need of a reboot to pump new blood into its veins, it would be Need for Speed.
