Easier way to join friends in java edition

How do you play? What would make it better? In the launch menu before you launch the game, there should be a way to add other people with mojang accounts to be your friends. Then to get back to the server screen you would click the same button but this time it would be called server list or something like that. Please sign in to leave a comment. You have two options. You are basically asking for free Realms here. Not going to happen.

It costs money to run servers. It could show each player you've "friended" each in separate bars and it would show their name, head, and if they're connected to internet, what server their on or if they're on a solo world.

If someone gets a message when they're in-game, the message would appear in the chat. Invites would appear like a new recipe or an advancement. Friends could be added by Minecraft username or by the e-mail used for the Minecraft account.

They can just make it so you cants join unless if your friends invites you to the world and if the world owner leaves the non owner they disconect. This is the same functionality available on Bedrock Edition. I really want to see Java gain this ability. The singleplayer game runs an internal server already. This would just make it easier to connect your friends for a quick session without fussing with IP addresses. It would work the same as LAN but with a shared connection, and a second or multiple player s sending client data to your world.

I agree. After all, bedrock edition gives us the opportunity to play minecraft without having a realm or a server! Mojang should replicate that to java edition as well! I like this idea because it's weird. If you play on bedrock you can get an Microsoft and play online for free. I don't want Xbox Live to be a part of java, I want it to be similar and have similar features, but I don't want to have to use my Xbox account on my java version.

Everything I love about java would begin to melt away into everything I hate about bedrock. I can't make a server OR buy realms OR have friends come to my house with their device.

I would just like an easy, expense free, way to play with your friends. But only using Minecraft, so you don't have to friend them on Xbox or something else.

A simpler, streamlined way of hosting a server locally wouldn't go a miss. For a game that's so much better with other people, having no form of friends list or ability to join a friend's world on the original version of the game, no less is a bit tight. Sure, it may be quite laggy for some, depending on the host's connection. But if I have to sacrifice performance to let my friends join in on my Java worlds, so be it, it's totally worth it.

I get that MS want to make money where they can; but charging people to rent a third-party server, when they could just host it locally, makes no sense for people who just want to make a world for a small group of friends to play on. The idea of Realms makes total sense if you're expecting a large group of people, but for the average user there's no point when a free option is possible.

I wouldn't even need this feature if there was a built-in way to port worlds to and from Bedrock, without having to faff about with third-party gubbins. Skip to main content. Back to minecraft Back to minecraft. PresidentCabage shared this idea.

Please note that this post is over a year old and may contain outdated information. Setting up a Minecraft server on your home Windows computer is fairly easy. With basic knowledge of computers and networking, you can be playing with friends over a local area network LAN or the Internet in minutes. Each player that wants to connect must have purchased Minecraft Java Edition for their PC from minecraft. The console and mobile versions are not compatible with the Java version, and for those you'll need to use Minecraft Realms.

There used to be a bigger version of this thread a few months ago, but someone removed it due to "not fitting in the forum category". It used to fit before, but they changed the forum section name so it wouldn't fit , and then removed the thread. They told me, and a bunch of other users, that they would make a dedicated section, but months later we see no change. The old thread is still locked, and nobody can see it. So in order to prevent that from happening again, this thread is being remade and placed in the " most appropriate section " possible. Since people usually look for friends to play survival with, this thread is being made in the Survival Mode Discussion mode section.

Adding friends on Minecraft PE

When playing Minecraft, you can play a singleplayer or multiplayer game. If you'd like to play with other people, there are four options:. A player's game version must be the same as the server version to play on that server, whether it's LAN or hosted online. You can see your game version number at the bottom of your main menu.
